At Dexway we have the most powerful online and in classroom language courses to accompany your textbook or its contents: Dexway. Why offer a simple digital extension when you can use the best language courses as a complement to your teaching material?
Main problems of editorial extensions
Between students, parents and teachers, the support of the e-learning materials and technology for educational training becomes stronger each time, as the study of Education Technology: An Evidence-Based Review by Maya Escueta and other authors (2017) for The National Bureau of Economic Research points out that this is why educational centers and language centers are focusing their attention on this type of material demanded by all educational agents.
Generally, the language centers have textbooks to teach their classes, although sometimes they also develop their own syllabus. Whatever the case may be, and given the weight of new technologies, these centers need an interactive and online digital complement that supports their book and its teachers. That’s where Dexway Classroom Companion comes into play with its three versions: Primary (ages 7-12), Secondary (ages 12-16) and adults.
# 1 Very limited content (simple extensions)
Extensions developed by the publishers themselves for their books tend to be less interesting. They are designed to be a complement that does not steal prominence from the paper version and therefore they have very limited content.
Presently, there is a great demand for digital content to complement the classes. The centers know that students prefer to have a portal to access interactive content that allows them to practice anywhere and at any time.
Faced with this need, many publishers have gone out of their way to develop simple extensions that do not satisfy real needs, inside or outside the classroom. These extensions do not adjust to the central needs, the teacher has to try to adapt to them.
#2 Lack of a specialized language platform
It requires a web portal (LMS, learning management system) through which students connect to access their courses (such as digital extensions with interactive content, additional readings, social communities, etc.). However, most of these editorial extensions do not present as much variety and they don’t have a specialized platform in languages.
As this is the case, the publisher extensions do not offer effective follow-ups for skills of what the student does and the contents are dispersed.
#3 Less variety of extensions between the centers
All language centers face the same problems with digital extensions of publishers: little content and repetitive (with respect to the book), and the fact that many academies and training centers use the same materials makes it difficult for them to differentiate since these extensions are rigid and do not allow changes.
Currently, when a student is interested in a center, they don’t see big differences between some centers and others, except for their facilities. Your center then becomes one more of them, folders and marketing are not enough, you need to add value.
So far, it is unusual for centers to have a course that represents an authentic complement and that allows integrating exercises developed by the center and its teachers.
By using the same textbooks to teach the classes, without contributing anything to the faculty, most language centers face this same problem. As a general rule, they end up leaving aside part of the book and without using the digital extensions proposed by publishers. This creates the false idea that they are not useful when the problem is that they do not work with the appropriate extensions.
Dexway has an alternative to your digital complement
Dexway presents a quality alternative to the simple digital extensions of publishers. The centers know that students prefer to have a portal in which they can access interactive content that allows them to practice anywhere and at any time.
