At Dexway, we’re introducing a new section for our additional activities: Dexway English-language podcasts. Podcasts have become one of the most consumed forms of digital content by all kinds of people. Whether it’s because they can be listened to anywhere or because they complement many activities, their popularity is on the rise. For those who aren’t yet familiar, podcasts are digital audio content, usually published in chapters (self-contained or in parts), that are listened to on demand, like radio programs, but on demand.
Given this popularity, Dexway is introducing a new addition to its English courses: a podcast section for B2 to C1 level learners. This new section expands the platform’s educational value, offering a successful, dynamic format that aligns with today’s learners’ consumption habits.

Why we’re incorporating podcasts into Dexway: the educational opportunity
Podcast usage has grown by more than 80% since the 2020 pandemic. Clearly, this period boosted its consumption, as it did for many other digital entertainment formats that found success during those uncertain months, such as streaming. And like some of them, podcasts weren’t just a passing fad. Their integration into social habits, coupled with several studies that support their advantages in educational settings—such as the 2024 Edison Research study, which indicates that 64% of podcast listeners say they help them learn and better understand complex topics—has solidified their impact.
Benefits of active listening
Podcasts require listeners to concentrate, interpret nuances, follow a narrative thread, and process auditory information without visual support. While watching videos relies on visual elements, podcasts lack these stimuli, and attention is directed entirely to sound, phonetics, and intonation—fundamental aspects in language teaching.
- Listening consciously (with the focus on it) promotes retention.
- It encourages reflection.
- It reinforces accents and intonation patterns.
In this sense, Dexway’s new podcast section is focused on reinforcing students’ listening and speaking skills in a natural, enjoyable and fun way in a format they already know, consume and appreciate.
How the new podcasts integrated into Dexway courses work
This new section is integrated into the additional activities of Dexway English courses for students at levels between B2 and C1. The podcasts are included alongside other extra activities such as vocabulary sheets, dictionary access, supplementary readings, magazine articles, and videos.
Dexway audios are short bites on a variety of topics that allow students to have new contact with the English language and a vocabulary of diverse subjects, which helps with conversation.
- Conversations about everyday life topics, such as travel or work.
- Micro-stories about crime, nature, medicine, current events.
- Interviews on current topics.
Each episode has a strategic duration —between 3 and 8 minutes— thinking about the economy of attention and the natural fit within the training itinerary.
Benefits for learning: real impact
✔ Significant improvement in listening comprehension
Podcasts expose students to natural accents, authentic intonations, and diverse communicative contexts. This improves their ability to understand real-world English.
✔ Immersion without the need to travel
Podcasts offer a window into authentic situations: interviews, dialogues, stories, news, and conversations. Students can experience immersion from any device.
✔ Flexible and multi-platform consumption
Podcasts can be listened to while the student studies, travels on the subway, exercises, or simply relaxes. This flexibility multiplies the opportunities for exposure to the language.
✔ Appealing to new generations
Over 60% of young people aged 16 to 34 listen to podcasts weekly. Integrating this format into Dexway encourages repeat use of the podcast.
